Cultural festivals
- Winnipeg’s annual Festival du Voyageur, held for ten days in February, celebrates the spirit of the French-Canadian fur traders who established the Red River Colony.
- Folklorama brings together the cultures that enrich Manitoba’s heritage, from African to Scottish to Japanese, for a two-week celebration of diversity through song, dance and food.
- The Icelandic Festival of Manitoba is the second-oldest continuous ethnic festival in North America, held each summer in Gimli.
- Corn and Apple Festival in Morden is fun for the whole family, with free stage entertainment, children’s events, a parade and even free corn-on-the-cob and apple cider.
- Flin Flon Trout Festival officially kicks off on the first Sunday of June, and includes fishing tournaments, a street carnival, the Queen Mermaid Pageant and Canada Day fireworks.
- Visit Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin and immerse yourself in the Ukrainian spirit as you take in world-class shows, music, dance and cuisine.
- Manitoba Highland Gathering in Selkirk embraces the centuries-old Scottish tradition of colour, pageantry and good times with staples like rugby exhibitions, a highland dancing competition and Scottish foods and pub.
Music festivals
- Jazz Winnipeg Festival oozes soul into the sizzling Winnipeg summers with world-class performances from the best jazz, blues and urban artists in the business.
- Winnipeg Folk Festival features roughly 250 artists on seven stages during the second weekend of July, making the annual gathering in Birds Hill Provincial Park one of North America’s premier outdoor music festivals.
- Brandon Folk, Music and Art Festival celebrates creativity, artistry and good times with entertainment at the Keystone Centre.
- Dauphin’s Countryfest is Canada’s longest running country music festival. Hurry, tickets go fast.
Theatre festivals
- The Winnipeg Fringe Festival is a 100% uncensored live theatre showcase that aims to break down the traditional walls between audiences and artists. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll love what has come to be the second largest event of its kind in North America.
- The Winnipeg Comedy Festival features hilarious local, national and international comedians, and is the highest rated comedy festival series on CBC Television.
Kids' festivals
- Freeze Frame is an international film festival for children of all ages, focused on media arts education and exposure through screenings and hands-on workshops.
- Kidsfest at the Forks features over a hundred educational, entertaining and accessible performances for children and has become a premier summer family event in Manitoba.
- Teddy Bears' Picnic in Assiniboine Park is a fun day outside for the family and their teddy bears while providing a forum to teach children about health and safety.
